Preparing for Calamities – Country Bankers Insurance Corporation

Preparing for Calamities

The extensive damage wrought by killer typhoon Yolanda in the Eastern Visayas last year has taught Filipinos a very valuable lesson in vigilance. Preparing for calamities means not only being secured physically, but also financially to face the most difficult of circumstances.

“What is most terrifying about typhoons and other natural calamities is that they are getting fiercer and more horrific every year. Catastrophes entail a lot of costs – health risks, damages to homes and properties – and may leave you with nothing” says Geraldine Desiderio-Garcia, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Country Bankers Insurance Group (CBIG).

CBIG is the country’s leading affordable insurance provider which offers a variety of insurance plans that protect lives as well as properties and assets.

Operating for more than 50 years now, CBIG has two subsidiaries: Country Bankers Life Insurance Corporation (CBLIC) for individual and group insurance; and, Country Bankers Insurance Corporation (CBIC) for nonlife insurance (motor vehicle, personal accident, home and fire insurance, among others).

Typhoons are a regular occurrence. At least 20 tropical storms enter the Philippines per year. “This is why when the rainy season starts, it is important to prepare ourselves for the worst,” adds Garcia.

CBIG offers affordable life insurance that is most practical during hard times. Insurance provides plan holders support for a myriad of reasons – home repairs, damage to properties, illness, hospitalization and even death.

Popular among CBIG’s wide porfolio of insurance products is the Classic Benefit Plan which offers straight insurance protection up to age 96 or the untimely death of the policyholder. Clients can choose from three, five, seven or ten years paying period.

Meanwhile, Alalay sa Buhay offers individuals 13-70 years old insurance for one year for a very affordable price of P365 per unit. Renewable up to 70 years old, it offers natural death and accidental death benefits. It also includes a daily hospital confinement benefit for non-pregnancy related causes and instant abuloy for beneficiaries.

“While many perceive insurance to be expensive, one needs only to be discerning about his choice of product that fits his needs and budget,” concludes Garcia.
